It's important to understand that "opening a pool" is a process, and the number of "visits" depend heavily on whether you're doing it yourself or hiring a professional. Here are some key factors that affect the number of visits:

  • Current state of your pool

  • Existence of a safety cover

  • Type of filtration system

  • Dimensions of your pool (size)

  • Professional closure from the previous season

How many visits will it take to make my pool swim ready??

Ahoy Pool Openings Include:

1.  Removal and storage of your pool cover:  Ahoy will meticulously remove your safety cover and store it in a secure manner, making sure that all pool anchors are firmly positioned in their designated locations. This procedure ensures that everything is well-organized and prepared for future use.

2.  Pool handrails and ladder:  All handrails and pool ladders will be installed back to their proper location for safety.

3.  Refilling of pool water to appropriate level:  During the winter season your water level may fluctuate based on the type of cover you have. Ahoy will drain/fill your pool to the appropriate level for operation before starting your system up.

4.  Removal of winterization plugs/Reinstallation of plugs:  Ahoy will remove and replace all skimmer plugs and return plugs.

5.  Prep and test pool pump/filter: We will reassemble all winterization plugs and check your system for any leaks before turning on your filtration system.

6.  Brushing and skimming: Ahoy will brush the entire pool to include walls and the floor for removal of algae from surfaces.  The entire pool will also be skimmed to remove any and all loose debris.

7.  Vacuuming:  As needed on the first visit (as applicable when pools were not covered/closed the previous season). Follow up visits are required after the initial visit to be swim ready (which will require waste vacuuming).

8.  Testing and balancing of pool chemicals:  Unlike other pool services Ahoy is proud to offer onsite digital testing for all of our pools.  By using the LaMotte Mobile WaterLink System we are able to offer our customers a valuable service that promotes the following:

  • Accuracy:  Digital testing provides the most accurate readings, eliminating traditional tests.

  • Cost efficiency:  Provides rapid results saving time and allowing for quicker adjustments to your chemical levels.

  • Data Management:  Creates a historical record we provide on each visit via email reports.

  • Precise Dosing:  Provides exact dosing which eliminates any guesswork when balancing your levels.

*Includes all standard chemicals
